Are You Ready to Peg and Roll?

L.A. Times reports the return of loose fitting rolled up jeans. L.A. based denim label Current/Elliott, a brand that just launched a little over a month ago, leads the pack among hundreds of premium denim labels in an oversaturated market in creating what is predicted to be the next big thing in the denim scene. The fit is slouchy and baggy, the cut is a cropped length with a tapered leg, the wash is a faded medium blue with optional whiskering, holes and distressed accents throughout and most importantly, the hems are casually rolled up. Hollywood is already embracing the trend with Reese Witherspoon, Katie Holmes and Amanda Peet recently spotted in loose fitting rolled up jeans.

I say “Never say never” with a jeans trend. I was scared of wearing skinny jeans two years ago, but it’s what I’ve been wearing ever since. So come fall, I should have already perfected the art of rolling my jeans, minus the holes if I can help it.

Barneys New York Warehouse Sale Los Angeles August 7-14, 2008

The Barneys Warehouse Sale in Los Angeles begins on Thursday, August 7 and will run through Sunday, August 17 and will be held at its regular digs at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. I just got my postcard in the mail yesterday and did a crappy job of taking a photo of it (I couldn’t use my scanner).

Some naysayers may say “Why go to the warehouse sale when you can go to Barneys and find the same stuff at the same prices, have real dressing rooms and attentive staff”? This is true to a point. If you check out the sales page at Barneys.com, those are the items and prices that you’ll find at the sale. But, since the warehouse sale stock is consolidated from all Barneys New York and Barneys Coop stores and brought to Los Angeles and New York for the warehouse sale, there will be more sizes and selection to choose from. And as the warehouse sale progresses, the discounts get better.

At the last sale, I got this black Giorgio Armani jacket for $125. It was part of suit that originally retailed for $2895. It was marked down to $1159, then $500 because the matching trousers were missing. The jacket was an “as is” blue tagged item that was marked an additional 75% off. There was nothing wrong with the jacket. Only the pants were missing. And it fits me perfectly! I also got Louboutins and Lanvin ballet flats at 80% off or roughly $100+ each. There were also tons of gorgeous Lanvin dresses at 90% off. Of course, I got these towards the end of the sale so most likely, I won’t be going until the last three days of the sale. Who’s going?

Richard Chai for Target Now Online

The Richard Chai for Target GO International collection is now available online. The line has been reportedly out in most Target stores since last week although today is the official release date. Designer Richard Chai, who initially wanted to be an architect, revealed that he drew inspiration for the collection from graffiti and New York City buildings, such as the Empire State Building. For those who haven’t seen the collection in person yet, Fashion Trend Guide does comprehensive reviews of the collection (in four parts so far). I’ll be dropping by Target later today to check them out. So far, I’m liking the blue rose print and the purple plaid print (which look a bit like Prada). How about you? Any faves? Has anyone seen the line in person yet? If you’re ordering online, don’t forget that you’ll get free shipping on orders over $50.

Urban Exclusive: Play By C. Ronson

Play by C. Ronson, Charlotte Ronson’s diffusion line exclusively for Urban Outfitters, is now available online. The collection launched in stores on June 18 so shoppers who haven’t had a chance to check them out in the stores now can do so online. The line evokes easy breezy, cute and playful just like the designer’s eponymous main line though prices (from $68-$118) are only a smidgen lower.
